Sermons in the Book of Mormon


One of the things that I have most come to enjoy about the Book of Mormon are the various sermons throughout the book. I am particularly appreciative of those that are taught about the Atonement, but I knew there were many cases of other sermons. In particular, there are the farewell sermons (Nephi, Lehi, Benjamin, Mosiah, Mormon, Moroni, among others). So I decided that in connection with this project I would make a list of all the sermons in the Book of Mormon, and then write a commentary on each.

As I compiled the following list I was rather amazed at the number of sermons. Now, I will admit that my definition of "sermon" has been rather flexible. In some cases (Alma 29) they are almost soliliquies. There are also several places where Mormon interjects editorial notes, which I have included. But I tried to pick segments which taught gospel principles.

I hope you enjoy these. Putting them together has been an interesting challenge for me. Some of these are simple commentaries on the passages they cover, others range more into the "musings" realm. May they add to your understanding of the Book of Mormon.
